As an extension of the original Little Katana, the menu blends traditional Japanese, Korean, and American influences into a creative sushi and small-plates lineup crafted for the American palate. The restaurant's name nods to a pivotal moment in U.S.–Japan history, when Commodore Matthew Perry's fleet of ships, oxidized black by salt water, became known to Japan as the "black ships."
